CLEAN-UP DAY KEY HILL CEMETERY

28th November 2009

A small group of hardy individuals turned up on a damp overcast day work in Key Hill Cemetery. The task was to plant bulbs generously dominated by Quadron – the Council’s grounds maintenance contractors.

Brian got everybody organised and here we see the group getting ready to start. In the frame are Brian Southwell, Phil O’Dell, Wendy Partridge, Sue Rich and Richard Harper. The areas selected for planting were the Chapel Island’ and the small area at the foot of the hill leading off to the Key Hill entrance. The group can be seen here working on their individual patches.

Margaret Beauchamp was also there and she chose to plant bulbs on individual memorials so the overall effect can be assessed later.

In the spring the result of this hard work should be visible to everybody. Daffodils, Crocuses have all been planted. If this work meets with the approval of everybody hopefully the planting programme can be extended next year and Warstone Lane included as well.

Thanks to everybody who took part.
